Services Offered
Psychological services offered through the offices of Dr. Rick Pimental-Habib, Ph.D., C.C.H., include individual psychotherapy, relationship counseling, family counseling, clinical hypnotherapy, and various support groups. Dr. Rick provides both long-term and short term psychotherapy, ranging from on-going, deep, insight-oriented work, to problem- or issue-specific work, which could include clinical hypnotherapy and different forms of healing through meditation if desired. Both long- and short-term counseling and psychotherapy can be extremely beneficial in dealing with issues for individuals, couples and families of all kinds.

Benefits of Therapy
If you’ve previously been in therapy, then you perhaps have a general understanding of the benefits to working in a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental setting with someone you trust, and who can offer gentle guidance to help you find your own answers. If you’ve never been in therapy before, but have been thinking about seeking assistance in dealing with lifelong issues, resolving some recent adjustment difficulties, or acquiring a greater degree of insight into your own behavior or ways of thinking, then therapy could be quite beneficial for you. In fact, that you are reading this right now may be an indication of your readiness for some form of counseling.

Let’s face it: Life can be extremely stressful and feel overwhelming, and the complications that arise from everyday living can seem confusing. They may cause immediate problems as well as stir up old family and childhood issues that you thought were resolved long ago. Stress, adjustments, relationship issues, family issues, sexual identity issues, dating, careers, addictions and compulsive behaviors, loss and grief, emotional conflicts -- with others as well as within -- are all issues many people share. No matter the specifics, the first step toward a happier, more congruent life is understanding that you need not go through it alone. Whatever your situation, contacting a therapist could be the healthiest step you take, and could open the door to a rewarding journey of discovery, insight and healing.

From time to time there are out-of-town readers of Dr. Rick's books who request psychotherapy. However, because of geographical distance, they are unable to come for treatment in person. As a result, Dr. Rick occasionally offers therapy by phone for those individuals who are not in the Chattanooga area. Phone counseling also works well for on-going clients who travel for business, and wish to maintain regular sessions while out of town.

Specializations
At his private practice Dr. Rick works with individuals, couples, families and groups. His areas of specialization include: self-esteem, relationships (gay, lesbian, and bisexual as well as non-gay relationships), anxiety and depression, loss and grief, life adjustments, parenting and alternative families, stress, addiction and recovery, the coming out process, HIV/AIDS related issues, health and wellness, clinical hypnotherapy, and meditation. Clinical hypnotherapy is not usually part of a client’s on-going psychotherapy; however, depending on the issues and needs of the individual, it can be an option. The same is true for past-life regression work. So while most people primarily seek individual psychotherapy or couples counseling, some come specifically to experience the ways in which different forms of hypnotherapy may be of help to them. Others want to learn how meditation can be a healthy – and healing -- addition to their lives. Dr. Rick is happy to discuss all the possibilities with you anytime.

Groups
From time to time, Dr. Rick offers group counseling. Such groups may be general support groups, or may be specific, such as: Meditation Group, Men’s Group, Bereavement Group, Creative Visualization Group, Couples’ Group, Empowerment or Law of Attraction Group, and Illness-Affected Group. Fees for group counseling are lower than for individual, couples’, and family counseling, and therefore may be a more affordable option for some.

Fees
Honestly, psychotherapy fees can pinch your budget a bit. However, it may just be the best investment – in yourself! – you’ll ever make. Dr. Rick’s fees are based on a sliding scale, and the initial phone consultation is free. Dr. Rick can be contacted via e-mail or phone for an appointment or for more information regarding services.
